About the Challenge

Win $1,000 and have your video seen by millions on USA.gov, while helping people understand how to get the government benefits and services they need, from applying for a passport to signing up for Medicare benefits. USA.gov provides answers to the public’s most common questions, at Answers.USA.gov, but we need your help to create how-to videos to better explain some of the information.

You can create and enter separate videos in any of five categories, listed below. One winner will be selected from each category. A person is eligible to win multiple categories.

Your video will need to illustrate the how-to processes described in some of our most popular frequently asked questions about government benefits and services.

Judging Criteria

Accurate, useful information

Videos will be judged to see if they present accurate, useful information and comply with the requirements of the contest. Those videos that do not comply will be disqualified.

Message/ Ease of understanding

All other videos will advance to round two in which the videos will be rated by the panel of judges based on message, accuracy, ease of understanding, creativity, and entertainment value.

Creativity and Entertainment Value

Was the video enjoyable to watch? Did it present the information in an interesting way?

How to Enter

  1. Sign in or create a new account in Challenge.gov.
  2. Click on the post submission button to submit your video through Challenge.gov.
  3. You may submit more than one video.

 

Video Requirements
  1. Each video must be 30 to 90 seconds in length and answer one of the questions above. Videos outside of this length requirement window will not be accepted.
  2. Videos must be submitted within the time frame listed below.
  3. Avoid language that is profane, violent, sexual, harassing, or that personally attacks or targets a person, group, or organization.
  4. Use the USA.gov logo in your video. You can find the logo at: http://www.usa.gov/About/Usagov_Logos.shtml Use of the USA.gov logo, or any General Services Administration (GSA) trademark, is limited to your contest video. You may not use the logo or other trademark for any other purpose or in any other context without the express written permission of GSA.
  5. Avoid violating copyright laws or using brand names or logos other than USA.gov’s in your video. You agree to indemnify the U.S. Government and GSA for any claim, demand, judgment, or other allegation arising from your possible violation of someone's trademark, copyright, or other legally protected interest in any way in your video.
  6. Your video may not contain any endorsement, solicitation, commercial, or similar content advocating for or against candidates for office, political issues, services, or products.
  7. Your video must be original content for this contest. Do not submit a video that has been submitted elsewhere.
  8. The video must be submitted through Challenge.gov and comply with the Challenge.gov terms.
  9. Videos must end with the message, “Get more information to answer your government questions at USA.gov.” This can be spoken or printed on a closing slide.
  10. Winners will be required to submit a transcript of their video.
